Performance Evidence

Evidence is required to be collected that demonstrates a candidate’s competency in this unit. Evidence must be relevant to the roles within this sector’s work operations and satisfy all of the requirements of the performance criteria of this unit and include evidence that the candidate:

locates and applies relevant documentation, policies and procedures

works effectively with others to undertake and complete the loading, securing and unloading of drilling equipment and materials that meets all of the required outcomes including:

complying with written and verbal reporting requirements and procedures

communicating clearly and concisely with others to receive and clarify work instructions

communicating clearly and concisely with others to resolve coordination requirements throughout work activities

demonstrates completion of loading, securing and unloading drilling equipment and materials that safely, effectively and efficiently meets all of the required outcomes on more than one (1) occasion including:

assessing load for hazardous and dangerous goods

identifying load characteristics and using appropriate loading techniques to safely and efficiently move load

securing load at approved anchorage points

checking the distribution of the load and ensure it is even, legal and within safe working capacity


Knowledge Evidence

The candidate must demonstrate knowledge of the following when loading, securing and unloading drilling equipment and materials:

applying the organisation and site requirements and procedures for:

work, health and safety

contaminant identification and management

emergency response

environmental issues

safe carrying of loads

hazardous goods procedures and spills

identifying and reporting equipment faults

equipment isolation

site operational systems

working in night and day conditions

erecting signage and barricades

working in wet and dry working conditions

load positioning

mass & loading regulations

transport of dangerous goods and hazardous substances

equipment processes, technical capability and limitations

methods of preventing shifting of loads and their importance

number and types of lashings to apply, fixing points and basic knots

licences and permits requirements for the use, transport and storage of LPG and LPG appliances
